GiveBIG, the Seattle Foundation’s annual online giving event, returns on May 9th! This is the last year for GiveBIG, so we’re hoping that you’ll help make it our best! If you’ve given to SeaVuria in the past, you will be receiving a special e-mail invitation on May 9th to support our Big Ask this year. However, you don’t have to wait that long to make a donation. Starting on April 26th you can schedule your gift to SeaVuria in advance through our online profile.
Jacob & youngest daughter, Tabitha
In the summer of 2013, Jacob Nzuma was scheduled to be the driver for SeaVuria’s small professional development team as we led teacher training in rural Kenya. Always smiling, Jacob turned out to be not only a wonderful driver, keeping us safe and getting us to our appointments on time, but also (much to our surprise) an amazing game driver, spotting animals lying in the grass and showing us this breathtaking ecosystem. Our daily commutes through the stunning beauty of Kenya became mini-safaris, both serene and exciting as many of us saw herds of elephants, running giraffes, and regal lions in their natural habitat for the first time.
On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.
SeaVuria is partnering with Rotary International on a two-year Vocational Training Team Grant. Rotary International will fund a team of 7 science, math and technology teachers (the vocational team) to work with the 10 Kenyan SeaVuria schools and 7 Barringo schools to help them improve their teaching techniques from the current didactic approach to one that is interactive, hands-on, relevant, meaningful and engaging.
